We are currently seeking an ambitious and meticulous individual to join the team as a Statistician.
Amongst other things, the purpose of this role is to generate incremental lifetime value of our portfolio through the delivery and development of pricing models and the collation, analysis, interpretation and reporting of data of a business related nature across all areas. The selected candidate will be responsible for the analysis of future risk probabilities and the determination of policy premiums and rates and statistical analysis and reporting for strategic planning purposes.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Produce end to end pricing models;
- Build predictive statistical models to optimise prices and performance;
- Implement a pricing strategy based on performance analysis;
- Design, implement, analyse and report on Market and Customer insight studies;
- Develop and maintain data dashboards;
- Provide periodic updates and presentations to the management team;
- Contribute to the development and improvement of current methodologies;
- Work closely with the management team to ensure pricing and other business modelling data meet strategic objectives;
- Ensure all activity is compliant with internal governance and follows established controls;
- Undertake other tasks and duties commensurate with the role.
Skill-sets and Requirements:
- Strong background in mathematics, statistics and insurance;
- Has a critical and analytical mind-set and able to prioritise tasks;
- Excellent organisational skills, high attention to detail and ability to work independently;
- Ability to communicate complicated statistical concepts to an informed but non-technical audience;
- Candidates who are already approved (or fit to be approved) by the MFSA, would be given preference.
Education & Experience
- A tertiary level of education is required, ideally within Statistics or Mathematics or another related subject;
- A miniumum of two years’ experience in a statistical and/or insurance business environment or similar role;
- An in-depth knowledge of the insurance market, techniques and EU legal and regulatory environment will be considered an asset;
- Candidates experienced with handling large datasets and with using price optimisation and other business modelling tools will be given preference.
