AML Assistant

We are currently seeking an ambitious and meticulous AML professional to join our Risk Management team.

The position demands expertise on regulatory permissions and governance, particularly in of the areas of Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Know Your Client (KYC).

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supporting and assisting in the general day-to-day duties relating to client due diligence and AML screening, in line with the appropriate EU directives and Maltese legislation as well as the company’s policies and procedures;
  • Assisting in the analysis of the company’s clients’ profiles in carrying out the necessary risk assessments at client on-boarding stage and on an ongoing basis through periodic thematic customer reviews;
  • Liaising with the management team in order to ensure continued compliance with internal AML policies and regulatory requirements through the use of a number of IT systems and processes;
  • Assisting in the production of any regulatory submission to the authorities;
  • Assist in the production of any internal reports as required by the company;
  • Keep updated on any changes in any relevant laws and regulations and undertake any necessary tasks to ensure the company’s ongoing compliance with them;
  • Develop an advanced understanding of confidentiality, data security and privacy responsibilities, including applicable policies;
  • Escalate any and all potential risks to management;
  • Undertake other tasks and duties commensurate with the role.

Skill-sets and Requirements:

  • Strong AML and/or Compliance experience within the insurance industry with knowledge of AML and CFT regulations including EU directives and Maltese legislation;
  • Knowledge of the insurance market, techniques and the overall EU and Maltese legal and regulatory framework;
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently;
  • An inquisitive/challenging approach;
  • Detail oriented and skilled at dealing with information and documentation to ensure its validity.

Education & Experience

  • A tertiary level of education is required, ideally within Law, Insurance, or Accountancy;
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role;
  • Candidates who are in possession of a compliance and/or AML related qualifications or who are already approved (or fit to be approved) by the MFSA, would be given preference.

Remuneration package, including benefits will be awarded in accordance with the individual’s qualifications and experience.
